The Browning Automatic 5, also known as the Auto-5, was the first successful semiautomatic shotgun which was designed in 1898 and patented in 1900. Designed by the Browning Company in cooperation with the well-known Belgian firearm maker, Fabrique Nationale (FN), the Browning Auto-5 was just the first product in a long line of successful Browning shotguns to hit the market. Since then, the partnership between Browning and Fabrique Nationale has gone on to create some of the finest shotguns for hunting and shooting.
